Civil Science was selected by NDDOT to provide Construction Administration for the full reconstruction and widening of North Dakota Hwy 73 in the Fort Berthold Reservation. The project was divided into multiple sections of vertical grade adjustment reconstruction areas along with reclamation areas with shoulder widening. A three-legged roundabout was constructed at the intersection of ND 22 with a unique aesthetic color scheme to reflect the Native American tribal presence nearby. Two large box culverts replaced the aging drainage structures along 73 in the Handy Water Creek and Bear Den Creek area. Both were 4-barrel sections averaging 200 feet in length buried over 40 feet below the roadway surface. Construction began in 2023 and completed on schedule in 2024.
